Our Labrador Puppy : Avis

Avis is growing up fast. He is very naughty and seeks our continuous attention- if we ignore him, he starts barking aimlessly. Going out to stroll in the morning is something that he likes most. He waits entire night for the breaking of dawn, and the moment he sees the first faintest sunlight in the morning, he starts barking excitedly. He thus forces us to get up early. We take him for a walk. On road he ignores the barking street dogs as if he is not aware of their presence. He likes playing "tug of war" when ever he sees a cloth in our hand. He tries to pull that cloth from our hand by exerting his maximum possible strength. But if we leave that cloth, he too leaves it, as if it was of no use to him.

Our new Labrador puppy

We brought home a new Labrador male puppy on 25th may. It is around 40 days old and black in colour. It is cute and spends time sleeping for greater part of the day. We have named him Avis. We have arranged a big sized rectangular basket for Avis to sleep. My wife has specially laid cloths on the floor of that basket to make a comfortable bed for Avis. Avis plays hard and then on getting tired he dozes on the floor any where in the house. From there we pick him up softly and then we carefully put him in his basket so as to not disturb his sleep. While sleeping he does not pee on his bed. On feeling the pressure he gets up from his sleep, jumps out of the basket and the moving some distance away he pees on the floor. He pees any where and any time, so all of us have to mop his urine up by a mop-cloth many times a day.
Yesterday we were playing with him and he barked for the first time.We all clapped and cheered at his first barking. He -as if taking cue from our clapping- barked many times in his sweet little way.
Presently we are giving him only cerelac(a mixture of cereals, vitamins and other essential nutrients) to eat. He likes it very much. When my wife begins to prepare the cerelac in luke warm water he becomes very exited in the anticipation of getting the food.
